Our Purpose

We work at the intersection of science, law, policy, and development, tackling complex issues such as

ZIEM addresses pollution across air, water, and land by advocating for stricter regulatory enforcement, promoting sustainable waste management practices, and supporting pollution audits and remediation strategies. We aim to reduce public health risks and environmental degradation through science-based interventions and community engagement.

We provide climate risk assessments, design adaptation strategies, and develop policy frameworks to help communities and institutions mitigate the effects of climate change. ZIEM plays a key role in integrating climate science into development planning while advocating for climate justice and equity in resource distribution.

ZIEM promotes the shift from fossil fuels to clean and renewable energy sources such as solar, hydro, and bioenergy. We support policy development, energy access initiatives, and capacity building to accelerate Zambia’s transition to a low-carbon, energy-efficient economy.

Recognizing water as a critical and transboundary resource, ZIEM supports the development of integrated water resource management (IWRM) plans, water access equity, and conservation strategies. We provide advisory services to improve water laws, financing mechanisms, and community-based resource governance.
